HAS WELLBEING ‘COME OF AGE’?

HeaderImage03-2019

As you will see from my observations below, we had some fascinating and wide-ranging conversations at the NEC this month. This started me thinking about Wellbeing as a topic, as a process and as a profession. When properly addressed, Wellbeing within an organisation must be managed holistically and, in most organisations, this will involve lots of interactions between different departments and disciplines. Will this finally be the catalyst to break down silo cultures? Or will most employers just tinker around the edges (Cycle to Work days and a bowl of fruit in Reception!)? Many Wellbeing appointees are being promoted from within an organisation so their specific historic experience will inform their approach but may limit their scope. What are your thoughts? I have opened a LinkedIn discussion if you would like to share views.

HEALTH & WELLBEING EXHIBITION 2019

H&W2019standThis was a great success for us. Before the event, I was a little concerned that the content-packed conference would leave delegates with little time for the exhibition. As it turned out, we were busier and met a more diverse group of people than at any previous event. As always, Occupational Health and Health & Safety professionals were well represented but there were also representatives from HR, Engagement, Procurement and Contracts. Obviously, Wellbeing also featured prominently! As a result, the enquiries varied from complete office fit-outs, through biophylia and acoustics conversations to the more traditional individual DSE questions.

PRODUCT SHOWCASE

product_showcaseOur next two mobile showroom events are confirmed. We have had to relocate the London event and, as a result, change the date so Bristol is next on Tuesday May 21st at the Mercure Bristol Brigstow Hotel. London will now be on Tuesday June 18th at the elegant Goodenough College. Both venues are conveniently located and provide an opportunity to see all the latest products alongside our most established best sellers. There is no charge and we shall also be offering a short series of free seminars. Follow the location links to find out more information and register so that we know who is coming.

THE FUTURE OF WORKPLACE

future_of_workplaceAs we explore thinking about Wellbeing, there are many concurrent discussions about the workplace, its purpose, its influence and its current and future development. During March, I am attending events including Workplace Evolutionaries, the Smart Work Network and the Workplace Trends Research Spring Summit. Collectively, these will provide me (I hope!) with insights from those who have ‘been there and done it’ alongside those carrying out workplace productivity and wellbeing research. I am particularly looking forward to the Workplace Trends debate “The workplace profession is now just pandering to fads and fancies, and the ‘workplace’ is now done: we’ve run out of meaningful things to say”! I suspect I shall be prompted to blog about some of this.

If you have worked with us, met us at exhibitions, used our free resources, consulted our Customer Service team or interacted with us in any way and you can also spare a few minutes to describe that experience, please just follow this link to provide a Google review for us. Many thanks for sparing the time if you do. If you would like to know how to do this for your own business, take a look at this short video from Cat Gold at Intergage.
